We are pleased to announce that Tigerlily, the boutique hotel we designed for Montpeliers (Edinburgh) and Lulu, the nightclub located on the basement floor below Tigerlily have been impressing awards panels in the UK and abroad.
Tigerlily has swept the boards in nominations for the prestigious 2007 Scottish Hotels of the Year Awards and has been nominated in the top category of the Scottish Hotel of the Year as well as being shortlisted in four other categories: Best Hotel Design, Best Boutique Hotel, Best Hotel Bar and Best Edinburgh Hotel.
News of the nominations follows Tigerlily’s success in winning the Best New Design title in the UK Bar Awards and being nominated in best bedroom/bathroom interiors shortlist of the European Hotel Design Awards 2006.
The UK Bar Awards, acclaimed as the bar industry’s event of the year, aim to celebrate and reward excellence across all areas of the UK bar and quality pub industry.
Judge Paul Wootton of UK Bar Awards organisers Class Magazine, said “Too often with design, sophistication and fun are mutually exclusive. Tigerlily, however, combines both to dramatic effect: it’s glamorous without being intimidating, playful without being cheesy. And rather than merely being a backdrop to the food and drink offering, it seems an integral part of the experience, stimulating the senses with its bold use of colour and materials. A brilliant achievement.â€
Meanwhile, Lulu – the newly opened club in the basement of Tigerlily – has also won acclaim after being named by Sunday Times Style Magazine as one of the UK’s best three new boutique nightclubs.
Well done guys!

As Beagle 2 hurtles towards Mars for a 25th December landing, so the eponymous Graven Images designed exhibition for the British Council heads towards its opening in South Korea. The exhibition structure is a clever re-use of a standard “pop-up” space frame, formed into a tunnel, and there will be brochures and CDs to support the event.

We have just completed the design of the corporate identity and communications materials for Greenbelt Group.
Greenbelt owns and manages open space land that is formed as part of new housing developments throughout the UK. The company works with residents, developers and local authorities.
We appraised the company’s branding and communication requirements by working closely with management to conduct interviews with a cross-section of employees and customers. This process clarified Greenbelt’s communication priorities and allowed us to construct a model showing the company’s structure, audiences, communications routes and collateral required.
